RUSSO-UKRAINIAN WAR

An exhibition dedicated to Ukraine’s struggle for independence and state sovereignty in modern history.

About the Exposition

Opened in 2023, the exhibition is dedicated to the causes, background, and course of the Russo-Ukrainian War. The military conflict is placed within a broader historical context and consistently highlights key stages of modern Ukrainian history: from Ukraine’s independence, the Revolution of Dignity, and the occupation of Crimea, to the outbreak of war in Eastern Ukraine and the events of the full-scale invasion that began on 24 February 2022. The exhibition presents the experience of both military personnel and civilian society, adults and children, men and women, reflecting both the “cold” and “hot” phases of resistance against the aggressor. Among the museum exhibits are authentic witnesses of the war: combat trophies, fragments of enemy missiles and UAVs, pieces of military equipment, and elements of international assistance, emphasizing global solidarity with Ukraine. Separate installations recreate the atmosphere of the first months of the full-scale invasion, reveal the contribution of the local community to the defense effort, and document acts of terror committed by Russian forces against the civilian population. A central place in the museum space is occupied by the “Wall of Memory”. This is a memorial installation featuring portraits of fallen soldiers from the Horishni Plavni community. The wall is complemented by an informational digital kiosk containing official data about the fallen local heroes: photographs, biographical information, details of military service, awards, and circumstances of death.
