Commemoration Day of Remembrance and Victory over Nazism: Exhibition “Wars That Changed the World”

On May 8, Ukraine, together with the rest of the world, observes the Day of Remembrance and Victory over Nazism in the Second World War. Today we bow our heads in memory of the millions of people who perished during one of the greatest and most brutal tragedies in the history of humanity and our country. This date reminds us of the price of freedom, of the incredible courage of those who resisted evil, and of our shared responsibility — to remember in order to prevent repetition. The slogan “Never again” resonates particularly strongly today, as history teaches us: war always brings only destruction and pain, and those who bring war ultimately lose. In our museum, the exhibition “Wars That Changed the World” is on display, with a separate section dedicated to the events of the Second World War. It immerses visitors in the tragic events of 1941–1943 that directly affected our region. The defense of the area in 1941, the tragedy of two years of German occupation, and the crossing of the Dnipro River by Soviet troops in September 1943 — all of this and more is “told” through museum exhibits: weapons, equipment, items of frontline life, as well as material evidence of the lives of local residents. By preserving these testimonies of the past, we honor the memory of all victims of the war and remind ourselves that history must serve as a warning for future generations. We remember. We honor. Never again.
