About the Exhibition
The exhibition "The Wonder of Color Entwinements" introduces the creative work of nine Ukrainian female artists from the NGO "Pastel Guild of Ukraine." It is an encounter of diverse artistic perspectives, life paths, and professional experiences, all united by a love for pastel – a technique where color touches the surface directly, preserving the living trace of the artist's hand. Gentle tonal transitions, rich color accents, expressive textures, and a subtle play of light create a distinct space for the emotional perception of art.
The exhibition participants reveal the potential of this medium in unique ways. Larysa Vansovych from Kyiv, holding a degree in art education and boasting years of teaching experience, turns to animalistic art, landscapes, nature, and architecture. Liudmyla Skopintseva, an architect by profession, combines precision in compositional thinking with a lyrical perception of the world. In her landscapes with architectural motifs, genre scenes, and still lifes, pastel helps convey light, air, and mood. Marharita Kvitkova, who arrived at art after working in information systems and jewelry making, found soft pastel to be a medium for creative self-expression, choosing landscape as her favorite subject. Oksana Rudenko, combining her professional experience as an architect and psychologist with artistic exploration, depicts the sea, sky, flowers, and animals, striving to convey both their external beauty and her own emotional impression from encountering nature.
Tetiana Korzhova works primarily in the genres of landscape and still life, participating in all-Ukrainian and international art projects. Her focus centers on light, nature, and the beauty of everyday things. Svitlana Melnyk, a professional architect and artist, explores space, rhythm, and various states of nature through soft pastel and graphics, frequently turning to forest landscapes. Vira Varvianska, an art restorer originally from Poltava, participates in exhibitions and сultural events in Ukraine and abroad. Soft pastel occupies a special place in her work, through which she creates landscapes, still lifes, and figurative portraits. Olena Viniarska, who returned to her childhood dream of painting after many years working in economics and public administration, works with watercolors and pastels. She is inspired by old towns, architecture, gates, and cobblestones – details that preserve the memory of people and time.
A special place in the exhibition belongs to Nihina Stohnii – an artist from Horishni Plavni, member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine, and curator of the project. For her, pastel is an independent artistic language capable of conveying light, color, states of nature, and inner experiences. It was through her initiative that nine female artists with different backgrounds, but a shared passion for this technique, met in this exposition. "The Wonder of Color Entwinements" is a celebration of the diversity of contemporary Ukrainian pastel art, as well as a story of personal discoveries, creative quests, and the inexhaustible possibilities of the pastel technique.
