About the Exhibition
The exhibition presents state decorations of local "cyborgs" – defenders of Donetsk Airport – along with their personal recollections, photographs from the field, and fragments of weapons used by Ukrainian defenders on the territory of Donetsk Airport. To date, the names of three "cyborgs" from the city of Horishni Plavni are known: Vladyslav Perun, Oleksii Khaliezov, and Illia Rieznik. Their personal belongings were featured in the exhibition.
Vladyslav Perun served in the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO) zone from August 2014 to October 2015. Upon receiving his summons, he immediately reported to the military enlistment office, where he met Oleksii Khaliezov, who had also served in the airborne forces. Together with him, he continued his service in the 95th Separate Airmobile Brigade.
Oleksii Khaliezov, in turn, worked at the "FOBOS" Center for Information Technology Implementation prior to the start of the Russo-Ukrainian War. In 2014, as a true patriot of Ukraine, he went to the military enlistment office. As a volunteer, he had the opportunity to choose his brigade. He requested to join his original unit, the 25th Airborne Brigade, where he had served during his compulsory military service, but there was no active recruitment there. Therefore, he joined the 95th Brigade. On October 21, 2023, during the full-scale invasion, Oleksii Khaliezov died heroically in the Kherson region.
On April 2, 2014, Illia Rieznik stood up to defend the independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine, serving under contract. From June to early August 2014, he evacuated the wounded following battles for Donetsk Airport, but was himself severely wounded by a sniper near the settlement of Pisky. After undergoing rehabilitation and medical treatment, he returned to his military unit. On June 27, 2024, while performing a combat mission in the Donetsk region, Illia Rieznik died as a hero, defending the Independence of Ukraine.
