About the Exhibition
The war has changed our cities, homes, bodies, memory, and the very sense of the future. But restoration is not about returning to a peaceful past. It is an opportunity to put oneself back together and create a new life. The body is restored when it feels strength again. The soul is restored when silence, light, and the ability to rejoice reappear within it. Connections between people are restored. Homes, cities, nature, and the country are restored.
In Nihina Stohnii's textile works, this process is spoken about in a special "subtle language" through abstraction, material, touch, color, and texture. It is not an illustration of events, but a depiction of the states that precede healing. Fabric becomes a kind of metaphor for life: it can be damaged, torn, connected, and painted. And every stitch becomes a small act of restoration.
There is no direct depiction of war in the artist's works. She does not illustrate events but speaks of the internal human states that precede healing. Through abstraction, color, texture, acrylic, appliqué, and embroidery, she creates her own artistic language. And the stitch holds special significance here. After all, every stitch can be perceived as a small act of restoration. The thread connects what was torn, the hand creates something new, and a holistic image is gradually born from separate fragments. That is why the title "Subtle Language" so accurately conveys the character of this exhibition. Because the most important things do not always need to be spoken about loudly. Sometimes, color, line, texture, or one small stitch is enough. This exhibition is about us, about people learning to breathe, feel, love, dream, and live anew.
