SERAPHIMA AND YEVHEN

The exhibition “Seraphima and Yevhen” is a sincere and touching story about people who dedicated their lives to their city and to each other. The core of the exhibition consists of documentary photographs telling the story of the pioneering couple of Komsomolsk (modern-day Horishni Plavni), Yevhen and Yukhymiya Shestakov. The author of the works presented in the exhibition is their granddaughter, photographer and filmmaker Sofiia Samoilova, an ethnic Ukrainian living in Germany. Through simple everyday moments, she reveals the power of long-lasting love, family warmth, memory, and human closeness. The exhibition combines a personal family story with the history of the city’s formation, creating an atmosphere of sincerity, calmness, and respect for the working people who built the city. This project reflects the value of human relationships, devotion, care, and the strength of life preserved in ordinary yet deeply meaningful moments.
